Had dinner tonight with tech strategist guru @easonlw and some sharp tech pros from Rocktech. My big take away for children of the 80’s and younger is if you want to have an impact in technology for the next 50 years and/or you want to be really valuable to someone else then focus on one of two areas (or both) with your time:
Big Data - “Big Data analytics represents a big opportunity. IT organizations are exploring analytics technologies to extract value from the social networking boom. However, an even larger opportunity is the Internet of Things.” - John Webster
Networks - In essence, knowing how to squeeze every drop of talent, energy, etc. from not just your 1st tier friends, but 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. It’s called “Increasing Surface Area” and creating 7 billion Kevin Bacons.
7 billion Kevin Bacons. Can you imagine that? Not only measuring all the talents and skills of the global population but utilizing them? #neweconomy
